The course provides a comprehensive and integrated overview of vaccinology, including principles of vaccination, methods to develop and produce all types of vaccines, practical aspects of vaccine delivery and future challenges.

Programma / Syllabus Module: Innovative vaccine development and production:

Ricombinant vaccines development strategies.
Subunit vaccines and Adjuvants (including liposomes, ISCOMs and VLPs).
Live attenuated recombinant vaccines
Genetic vaccines (DNA and RNA)
Innovative approaches (CpG motifs, peptide vaccines and others)

Programma / Syllabus Module: Innovative vaccine development and production per non frequentanti / not attendant students

Plant transformation tools: Agrobacterium-mediated (stable and transient) and biolistic approach (4 hours).
Biomass Production and evaluation of heterologous antigenic protein expression: the example of tobacco plants (4 hours)
An example of application: pigs fed a tobacco seed based oral vaccines (4 hours).
